When was the first Test Match played and against whom?
The first Test match was played in 1877 between England and Australia.  Australia won the match by 45 runs.  Australian Opener C. Bannerman scored 165 (retired hurt) in the first innings.

Who has played the most number of Test matches and the least?
England have played over 990 test matches and hold the record for the maximum tests played so far.  Zimbabwe have played the least with just over a 100 matches.

Which team has scored the maximum and minimum runs in a single innings?
Sri Lanka scored 952/6 declared against India in 1997 which is the highest by any team in test cricket. 
Both Australia and New Zealand hold the dubious record of the lowest score in test cricket (42 all out).

Which team holds the record for highest victory margin?
England, when they won against Australia by an innings and 579 runs in 1938.  England opener L Hutton scored an epic 364 runs off 797 balls.

Which team became the first to score 100 by an innings victory?
England in August 2015.

Which team has won most number of consecutive test series?
Australia (9)

Which team has been involved in both the tie matches in Test cricket?
Australia (against West Indies in 1961 and India in 1986).

Who is inarguably the greatest all-rounder in test cricket?
Sir Garfield Sobers who scored 8032 runs in 93 matches and took 235 wickets.

How many teams have won a test match after being enforced a follow-on?
Only two.  England on two occasions against Australia and India also against Australia.  While England won the two matches by a slender margin of 10 and 18 runs, India won by a huge margin of 171 runs.

Which team has won all the matches in a test series maximum number of times?
Australia

What is the shortest duration in which a test match has ended in a result?
Two.  There have been twenty occasions when a test match has ended in two days where England have won the maximum (9) and Australia following a close second (8)
